The Messengers
As this sci-fi thriller starring Shantel VanSanten and Joshua Silburn Jr., nears the end of its freshman season, Vera (VanSanten), and Alan (Craig Frank), continue their investigation into the genesis stone’s secrets. The Five Angels of the Apocalypse — strangers who developed extraordinary powers and superhuman strength after their hearts had stopped when a meteor fell to Earth — are united in a search for the Second Horseman. Female bonding runs wild in this movie about the friendships between two pairs of women. Jessica Tandy plays an elderly nursing home resident who befriends a lonely, frumpy woman (Kathy Bates), there to visit her husband’s aunt. Tandy’s character enchants her with the story of two women (Mary Stuart Masterson, Mary-Louise Parker), who opened a cafe together in 1930s Alabama. (OWN Canada)

Romance
Diane Lane’s screen career began with director George Roy Hill’s charmingly innocent 1979 comedy. Lane plays an American girl attending school in Paris, where she falls for a French boy (Thelonious Bernard). Their puppy love is encouraged by a wise senior citizen (Laurence Olivier), who inspires their adventure. (TCM)
Bones
Cyndi Lauper reprises her recurring guest role as Avalon Harmonia, Angela’s (Michaela Conlon), psychic friend. The story opens with the discovery of a psychic’s body decomposing in a tree trunk. Elsewhere, Booth and Brennan (David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel), debate how to handle little Christine’s (Sunnie Pelant), new imaginary friend. (Fox)

Corpse Bride
Be careful what you touch — it could be a twig or the skeleton figure of a young woman who was murdered by her future groom on their wedding day. Johnny Depp provides the voice of the hapless stick figure who accidentally pledges himself to the deceased. (YTV)
