Stunt man revved for Hawaii Five-O stint

-

The TV universe is constantly expanding, and new channels and shows vie for attention just as much as old favourites. Here are the best bets on the box.

Hawaii Five-0

Famed stunt man Robbie Knievel — son of one of the most legendary of them all, Evel Knievel — guest stars in the new episode Ka ’alapahi Nui (Hawaiian for Big Lie), which has a theme relevant to his involvement. A killer’s method of escape, riding a motorcycle on which he jumps from roof to roof, leads McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin), and the team to a group of stunt bikers. Victoria Pratt (Mutant X), also guest stars. (CBS, Global)

The Enfield Haunting

In the finale to this threepart miniseries, Maurice (Timothy Spall), is aghast to read a news report that Janet and Margaret (Eleanor Worthington-Cox, Fern Deacon), faked the haunting, but the women assure him they said that just to fend off other psychic investigators. Guy (Matthew Macfadyen), uses Joe’s ashes in an attempt to exorcise any malign spirits from Janet, but despite initial signs of success, more paranormal attacks soon follow. (A&E)

Last Man Standing

Jay Leno — well-known for both his car collecting and his comedy career — guest stars as the original owner of an auto that Mike (Tim Allen), receives as a birthday gift, in the new episode The Road Less Driven. The man then keeps showing up with parts and tips, none of which Mike particularly wants. (ABC)

The Fifth Estate

As Canada’s leading investigative documentary program opens its 41st season, hosts Bob McKeown, Gillian Findlay and Mark Kelley return with a season premiere set in Iraq, on the front lines of the war against ISIL. McKeown examines the true consequences of Canada’s “top secret” military campaign, while a young man from the region risks everything to tell his story about living in a town occupied by ISIL. From closer to home comes the story of a mother who has lost one son and is feverishly trying to save another. (CBC)

The Knick

In the new episode, You’re No Rose, Dr. Thackery (Clive Owen), vows to make a return to the Knick, a prospect the hospital board regards with less than unbridled enthusiasm. Cornelia (Juliet Rylance), enlists the paid assistance of Cleary (Chris Sullivan), on a dirty job. Bertie (Michael Angarano), makes a change, while Robertson (Grainger Hines), tries to push through a new subway initiative. (HBO Canada)

Ghost Hunters

The TAPS team is summoned to Woonsocket, R.I., by the owners of a haunted theatre, who bought the property next door and were stunned to see the level of paranormal activity spiking even higher. The Ghost Hunters explore both buildings to see whether spirits may be actively travelling between the two locations, in the new episode The Plot Thickens. (OLN)
