RHSAA 2A, 3A boys soccer final matchups set

Shedrick Samuel had three goals to lead the Miller Marauders to a 5-0 victory over the LeBoldus Golden Suns in a Regina High Schools Athletic Associatio­n 3A boys soccer semifinal Wednesday.

In the other 3A boys semifinal, the Balfour Bears edged the O’Neill Titans 4-3.

Miller and Balfour are to meet in the city final tonight at 7 at the Soccer Centre.

In 2A boys semifinals on Wednesday, the Notre Dame Hounds got two goals from Aidan Strangeway in a 4-3 overtime victory over the Luther Lions, and Bob Kroczynski had all three Sheldon-Williams Spartans goals in a 3-1 victory over the Regina Christian Grizzlies.

Notre Dame and Regina Christian are to meet in the city final Monday, at 7 p.m., at the Soccer Centre. More RHSAA results appear in Local Scoreboard.

Kennedy Bobyck had two goals to help the Regina Rebels post a 4-2 victory over the Melville Prairie Fire in Saskatchew­an Female Midget AAA Hockey League action on Wednesday.

Santana Gravelle and Lilla Carpenter-Boesch also scored for Regina. Heather Fiske and Mackenzie Balogh scored for Melville. Katheryn Neigum made 24 saves for the Rebels. Macey MacDonald stopped 27 shots for the Prairie Fire.

Ticket packages are on sale for the 2016 world women’s curling championsh­ip, scheduled for March 1927 in Swift Current at the Credit Union iplex.

The opening weekend mini-pack is $109, the championsh­ip weekend minipack is $149 and the full event package is $369.

Single-draw tickets will go on sale Nov. 19 (round robin) and Jan. 14 (opening and closing weekends).

The Regina Thunder placed four players on the PFC’s defensive all-star team, which was unveiled Thursday.

Two Thunder defensive backs — Taylor Mayer (15 tackles, three assists, five pass knock-downs and two intercepti­ons during the regular season) and Menedum Menegbo (11 tackles, three assists, four knockdowns and two intercepti­ons) — made the grade.

Regina defensive tackle Ryan Warner was honoured after recording 10 tackles and eight assists during the regular season.

Thunder linebacker Paul Toth also made the team after a regular season in which he had 18 tackles, nine assists, two intercepti­ons and a knock-down.
