Vinyl
Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese are among the executive producers of this new drama series set inside the recording industry, primarily as viewed by Richie Finestra (Bobby Cannavale), founder of American Century Records. The Pilot opens in 1973 New York, where Richie mulls selling his struggling company to a German label. That deal is complicated by an assortment of temperamental artists and managers, however. Olivia Wilde, Andrew Dice Clay, Ato Essandoh and Juno Temple also star. (HBO Canada)
THE WALKING DEAD
The blockbuster horror drama resumes new episodes with its winter premiere, No Way Out. The survivors find themselves in a new landscape, where they’ll need to pose a credible threat themselves to claim their place. Many fans are looking forward to the latter half of Season 6, which sees the arrival of two new characters: the villain Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Paul (Jesus) Monroe (British actor Tom Payne), a bearded survivor with the fighting skills of a ninja. MASTERCHEF CANADA
Given that food and romance are intimately connected, it’s only fitting that this homegrown franchise of the international competition series returns for Season 3 on Valentine’s Day. The season premiere, Yes, No, Maybe So, finds 40 home cooks from across the country competing for a spot in the Top 14, but that means pleasing the picky palates of judges Michael Bonacini, Alvin Leung and Claudio Aprile.
