Dolphins’ swimmer earns four gold medals

Southern Saskatchew­an swimmers were prominent at the Michelle Moore Internatio­nal Swim Meet, which was hosted by the Regina Optimist Dolphins on the weekend at the Lawson Aquatic Centre.

Becky Dean of the Dolphins won four gold medals in the female 13-14 division, in which teammate Emma Spence earned two gold medals and two silvers.

Cadence Johns of Moose Jaw won six events in the female 12-and-under division. Kylie Rotheisler of Regina Flatland Swimming won two golds.

In the female 15-and-over division, Rania Nefsi won five gold medals and Dolphins teammate Lexy King won two.

The Dolphins’ Michael McGillivra­y won five events in the male 12-and-under division.

Anis Bagriche of the Dolphins claimed four gold medals in the male 16-andover grouping.

As well, Dolphins swimmers Breanna Foster and Mitchell Brough qualified for the age-group nationals, to be held in Calgary in July.

In the developmen­tal meet, Matlyn Bulych of Yorkton won five gold medals in the female 12-and-under division. Mia Senga of the Dolphins won three events in that classifica­tion.

Marc Tremblay of the Regina

Cycling Club set a course record while winning the 120mile event of the Badlands Gravel Battle in Medora, North Dakota, on Sunday.

Tremblay finished in seven hours 20 minutes. Regina’s Pedro Peralta Elgueta placed fourth in that race in 7:58 and Irvin Tremblay of Regina was 11th in 9:18.

In the 77-mile event, Regina’s Matt Tremaine was 15th in 6:33 and Chris Worby of Regina finished 17th in 7:14.
