Singer denies stepping on fan’s head at nightclub
If you saw this headline “(Celebrity performer) denies stepping on fan’s head,” whose name would come to mind?
Chris Brown, right? Right. The incident happened, or didn’t happen, May 18 at a Cannes nightclub called Gotha. It became news only after alleged victim Malek Mokrani went to TMZ, which posted a video showing … something.
Brown’s Instagram reply vanished, but only after Us Weekly reported it: “No fans were hurt by Chris Brown; no fans were beat up by Chris Brown,” the singer said. (Is that third-person voice pompous, or what?)
There was more, including the assertion that a venue security man “grabbed his hand around my throat and tried to push me out the spot when we were walking … we handled the situation accordingly and moved on.”
And this: “Stop lying to people, saying we beating up fans, ’cause I don’t do that.”
Fame Monster has second thoughts: Lady Gaga, talking at some panel discussion, bemoans the household-name status she fought tooth and nail (and crazy costumes), to attain:
“I don’t think I could think of a single thing that’s more isolating than being famous,” Variety quotes her as saying. “It is very hard, to not be able to engage with people in a real and honest way because they either want something from me or they see me as something that I simply am not.” Yeah, well, next time just be careful what you wish for, lady.
