Jays mum on allegations
Blue Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion is reportedly being sued for $11.5 million by a woman who claims the star gave her multiple STDs during a February tryst in the Dominican Republic.
According to the gossip site TMZ, the 33-year-old Encarnacion’s accuser is a 24-year-old family friend who first met the designated hitter in 2013. She alleges the pair had a weekend getaway to Punta Cana and had unprotected sex on at least two occasions. She claims a test prior to the trip came back clean.
The woman alleges Encarnacion knew he had an STD and didn’t tell her. She’s suing him for battery and misrepresentation of facts.
Encarnacion’s agent told TMZ he had “no comment” on the matter. He and his longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Pena, have one son, Edwin Jr.
“The Blue Jays and Edwin Encarnacion will continue to keep our focus on the game of baseball and will not be commenting on this matter,” said an emailed statement from Jay Stenhouse, the Blue Jays vice-president of communications.
