After six years of inactivity, a serial bomber appears to be back in action, uniting Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Watson (Lucy Liu) with New York police as the mystery series’ fifth season begins. They may get help from someone else from Holmes lore: Shinwell Johnson (played by new series regular Nelsan Ellis), featured in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Adventure of the Illustrious Client. HEARTLAND
The premiere of Season 10 will see certain members of the BartlettFleming clan facing tough decisions about their futures. For Amy and Ty (Amber Marshall, Graham Wardle), that includes navigating the tricky challenges of a first pregnancy as they brace themselves to become parents. Lou (Michelle Morgan), meanwhile, wrestles with a growing romantic attraction, even as she considers a business venture that could upset the family status quo. (CBC)
SHAMELESS
Season 7 promises to bring big changes for some members of the Gallagher clan, largely because Fiona (Emmy Rossum) finally has had enough of being dragged down by her selfish father (William H. Macy) and younger siblings in the premiere. Speaking of the Gallagher patriarch, Frank is none too pleased when he comes out of his coma to discover his nearest and dearest tossed him in the river, while Lip’s (Jeremy Allen White) rehab stint has given him a new perspective on addiction.
