Capitals win bronze medal at Junior B’s Keystone Cup

The Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals won the bronze medal at the Keystone Cup — the Western Canada junior B hockey championsh­ip.

In Sunday’s third-place game, the Prairie Junior Hockey League champions defeated the host Arborg (Man.) Ice Dawgs 6-2.

Cody Hegion led the Capitals with two goals. Keenan Lugt, Braydon Delorme, Taylor Kreutzer and Austen Brown had singles. Eric Duran added three assists as the Capitals outshot Arborg 63-27.

In the gold-medal game, the Wainwright Bisons defeated the Beaver Valley Nitehawks 4-3 in overtime. Bryce Woodward scored the OT winner.

The Battleford­s North Stars carry

a 2-0 series lead over the Flin Flon Bombers into Tuesday’s Game 3 of the SJHL final.

Battleford­s posted back-to-back home-ice victories, winning 3-0 on Friday and 5-1 on Saturday. The best-of-seven series moves to Flin Flon for the next two games.

The Stars have won all 10 of their playoff games this season, outscoring the opposition 55-19.

Conor Renouf of Regina posted the fastest marathon time Friday at the Look Gopher Attack Marathon and Half-Marathon in Regina.

Renouf completed the 42.2-kilometre course in two hours 46 minutes 23 seconds. Michelle Barnes of Esterhazy (3:15:22) was the female marathon winner.

The half-marathon winners were Michael Middlemiss of Regina (men; 1:21:38) and Jen Kripki of Saskatoon (women; 1:30:42).

The Tor Hill Ladies Club welcomes new members.

Membership includes golf every Tuesday, from May to September. Golfers of all ages and skill levels are invited to join.
