Annual Holiday Open House

-

‘Tis the season! For family and friends! For festivities and fun! Get into the holiday spirit at the annual Downtown Holiday Open House in Minot.

The yearly event begins on Fri. Nov. 24 — otherwise known as Black Friday — at 3 p.m. and offers something for the whole family to enjoy. Black Friday shoppers can take advantage of the specials offered by the downtown merchants or take a break from the shopping while enjoying the entertainment and great food.

Good, old-fashioned family wagon rides will be available and there will be roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate and cider to keep the chill away.

The highlight of the Open House will be the lighting of the Christmas tree in the middle of Main Street at 6 p.m.

Shoppers will also have the opportunity to get a jump start on their holiday shopping in a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere as Downtown Minot has unique boutiques and awesome gifts just in time for Christmas.

Roger Reich, president Downtown Business & Professional Association, says the event has been taking place for at least 25 years, and is even better following the recent downtown revitalization. “There are new lights, new sidewalks and two new parking garages, where the first hour of parking is free,” he says.

Always welcome, Reich says Canadians are especially encourage to take advantage of the activities and sales of Black Friday and the holiday season. “Come down and have a great time. The shop owners and vendors are happy to see our friends from Canada come down. It’s always a great time on that day — that Black Friday — to get some deals.” he says.

From Black Friday to traditional holiday treats, there’s something for everyone in downtown Minot this holiday season.
