O Christmas Tree!

-

Choose the perfect Christmas tree, wreath or centerpiece at the Festival of Trees on Sat., Nov. 18, at the Holiday Inn Riverside.

In the evening, beginning at 5:30 p.m., there will be a live auction of 15 professionally decorated Christmas trees, a silent auction featuring Thanksgiving and Christmas items, a raffle with prizes such as a Medora vacation package, as well as live music, hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Tickets for the evening event are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door. Only 350 tickets will be sold. To buy tickets online, visit www.facebook.com/ FestivalofTreesdakotahopeclinic/.

New this year, the public will get a chance to view the trees and vote on their favourite from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The day-time event is free, but there is a suggested donation of a new baby item for the baby boutique at the Dakota Hope Clinic for the clients going through the Earn While You Learn program. Bring the whole family to view the beautiful trees, wreaths and other items. Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be served at no charge. The Donation Station will be there to collect cash donations for Dakota Hope or a new baby item for the Baby Boutique. Proceeds from the Festival of Trees go to helping Dakota Hope Clinic continue its mission to support women and men dealing with unintended pregnancy. Nadia Smetana, clinic director, says the trees are all donated by local businesses and individuals. “We’re a not-for profit,” she says. “The services are free, so we have to fund-raise.”

With numerous Christmas items to choose from, and the proceeds going to a charitable organization, it’s the true meaning of Christmas in action.
