Midland, Janson, Lawrence set to perform at Country Thunder
Organizers add to lineup for popular four-day July music event in Craven
Country Thunder Saskatchewan got into the Christmas spirit Thursday, announcing it has added Midland, Chris Janson and Tracy Lawrence to its 2018 lineup.
Midland, comprised of Mark Wystrach, Cameron Duddy and Jess Carson, recently received two nominations for 2018 Grammy Awards. In addition to being nominated in the category of best country song for Drinkin’ Problem, Midland was also nominated in the category of best country duo/group performance.
Drinkin’ Problem is the first single from Midland’s latest album, On the Rocks, which was released on Sept. 22. The single reached No. 4 in the United States and No. 1 in Canada.
Janson, who has been described as country music’s Mick Jagger, has a number of Top 10 hits, including Buy Me a Boat and Fix a Drink.
Lawrence rose to prominence in the 1990s with a string of hit singles and albums. Lawrence, who last played the festival in 2011, has eight No. 1 hits — Sticks and Stones, Alibis, Can’t Break It to my Heart, My Second Home, If the Good Die Young, Texas Tornado, Time Marches On and Find Out Who Your Friends Are.
Midland and Janson join a lineup that features headliners Luke Bryan, Chris Young, Dierks Bentley and Big & Rich, along with mainstage performers Dean Brody, Lindsay Ell, Jess Moskaluke, LANCO, Clay Walker, The Hunter Brothers and Roots & Boots (a classic country act featuring Aaron Tippin, Collin Ray and Sammy Kershaw).
“We’re thrilled that our fans in Saskatchewan are excited about next year’s headliners but with the new four-day festival format, we knew we had to deliver the goods with the strongest supporting cast possible,” said Troy Vollhoffer, Country Thunder Music Festivals CEO, in a news release.
Country Thunder Saskatchewan is scheduled to run July 12-15 in Craven. Four-day passes are currently available for $150 (plus taxes and fees) until midnight Dec. 31.
