RCMP not looking for new suspects in deaths at Midale restaurant

-

RCMP members are conducting interviews while waiting for the results of autopsies on the two people found dead at a Midale business Friday.

Weyburn and Estevan RCMP arrived at the Midway Family restaurant around 8:30 a.m. last Friday. Later that day, the Mounties announced they were investigating two suspicious deaths.

In an emailed update on the open investigation Monday, RCMP announced the major crimes unit and forensic identification section released the scene Saturday afternoon. “There are still several steps in the investigation to complete over the next few weeks,” the statement read.

Autopsies are being conducted in Regina on Monday and Tuesday on the two people found dead at the scene.

“The results of the post mortem examination will confirm information that is crucial to the investigational,” RCMP said.

The release also notes that the Regina Major Crimes Unit still has interviews planned over the next few days “with individuals that may have some information that could be vital to the investigation.”

The release indicates once the investigation is complete, the Major Crimes Unit will meet with the families of the deceased to present the results of the investigation.

The RCMP is not seeking new suspects, but would still encourage anyone with information about the incident to come forward with any information by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a tip online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.

Midale is about halfway between Weyburn and Estevan. The community of about 500 is 160 kilometres southeast of Regina.
