Red Sox play in front of home crowd Sunday

The Regina Red Sox are to play their home opener Sunday against the Swift Current 57s.

The Western Major Baseball League game is set for 2 p.m., at Currie Field.

The Red Sox were to begin their regular season against the host Weyburn Beavers on Friday, but the game was rained out. It has been reschedule­d for June 18.

Regina’s schedule is now slated to begin Saturday against the host Yorkton Cardinals (7 p.m., Jubilee Park).

Keeley Saranchuk had a double,

triple and home run for the Raiders as they doubled Dakota Winyan 16-8 in Regina Ladies Softball Associatio­n action Thursday.

Also on Thursday at Douglas Park, Courtney Probst and Keysha Jansen homered for the Thunder in its 17-5 victory over Ochapowace.

As well, the Storm won a doublehead­er, defeating Pasqua 17-4 and Wicked Wild 7-0.

Brad Flanagan homered to help

Silver Screen Sportswear defeat the Moose Jaw Giants 11-4 in Western Cycle Rambler Park Fastball League action Thursday.

Winning pitcher Al Muhle struck out eight in four innings.

The Mexican national women’s sevens

rugby team is to oppose the Regina All-Stars on Saturday, 1 p.m., at Regina Rugby Park.

The teams played four matches Thursday, with Mexico winning 26-0, 22-5, 29-7 and 40-0.

In a senior men’s 15s match Thursday, the Regina Highlander­s and Campion Grads tied 26-26.
