Fun at the Fair
There’s something for everyone at the North Dakota State Fair (NDSF).
The award-winning fair runs from Jul. 22 to 30, featuring everyone’s favourites — from the agriculture shows and exhibits to the rides, food concessions and music.
Well into the second half of its first century, the fair’s overall success can be seen in the numbers, with an average of more than 300,000 visitors a year.
Vince Azzarello, the marketing director for the fair, has a special invitation to Canadians. “Canadians are welcome. We always have a large number of Canadian visitors and it’s always a pleasure to see them,” he says.
Azzarello says one of the main attractions this year is the 911: Never Forget Mobile Exhibit. The high-tech, 53-foot tractor-trailer, which transforms into a 1,000 square foot exhibit, is a tool to further educate citizens throughout the country about the events of that tragic day in 2001.
Visitors can take advantage of numerous free attractions throughout the fair and at the grandstand. There’s Daryl’s Racing Pigs and a selection of local musical talent, as well as a wide range of things for kids to see and do. With the food always a big draw at the fair, new this year is the Special Bargain Bites, with vendors offering a fairgoers with food for $5 and less. “Then they try the food and vote for the best,” says Azzarello.
Paid events include the Western Grand National Truck and Tractor Pull and a starstudded line-up of musical guests. See top entertainers such as Florida Georgia Line with special guest Adam Doleac, Dierks Bentley with special guest Travis Denning, Nickelback with special guest Pop Evil, Cole Swindell with special guest Morgan Evans, Michael Ray, Cheap Trick and more.
Shop ‘til you drop and get out of the heat in three air-conditioned Commercial Buildings with more than 400 vendors selling everything from jewellery and clothing to cookware, aromatherapy and hot tubs.
From musical acts to tractor pulls, and from carnival rides to tractor pulls, it’s all at the Fair.
