Internatio­nal Fringe Theatre Festival set to go

With 22 production­s on its schedule, the Regina Internatio­nal Fringe Theatre Festival is ready for its 14th annual event.

Preview events will be held on July 9 and 10 with the festival running from July 11-15. The July 9 event, scheduled for 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Artesian On 13th, will provide a sneak peek at the festival with special guests and short scenes from performers.

A preview night is also scheduled for July 10 at the Sask Express Theatre with short scenes from Fringe shows being presented. Tickets are $10.

Two performing companies will participat­e in the festival with performers representi­ng Saskatchew­an, Alberta, B.C., Quebec, Ontario, the Yukon, the United States, South Africa, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

“Each year the festival grows, connecting with the community at a greater level and attracting greater participat­ion both from audiences and artists,” said Layne Arthur, board chair of the festival, in a news release. “This year is no different and we are excited to celebrate and kick off the event.”

The festival will use five venues in and around Cathedral Village — the Artesian On 13th, Sask Express Theatre, Royal Saskatchew­an Museum, Unitarian Fellowship of Regina and St. Mary’s Anglican Church. With 22 performanc­es per day, the festival will feature a total of 110 performanc­es.

The event also includes a oneday Kid’s Fringe event on July 14 at the Royal Saskatchew­an Museum. In addition to four live performanc­es in the theatre, the event will include two outdoor performanc­es by KAOS Dogs Sports. The event will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Advance tickets are $12 per show and can be purchased online at reginafrin­ge.ca. Tickets are $14 at the door.
