International Fringe Theatre Festival set to go
With 22 productions on its schedule, the Regina International Fringe Theatre Festival is ready for its 14th annual event.
Preview events will be held on July 9 and 10 with the festival running from July 11-15. The July 9 event, scheduled for 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Artesian On 13th, will provide a sneak peek at the festival with special guests and short scenes from performers.
A preview night is also scheduled for July 10 at the Sask Express Theatre with short scenes from Fringe shows being presented. Tickets are $10.
Two performing companies will participate in the festival with performers representing Saskatchewan, Alberta, B.C., Quebec, Ontario, the Yukon, the United States, South Africa, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
“Each year the festival grows, connecting with the community at a greater level and attracting greater participation both from audiences and artists,” said Layne Arthur, board chair of the festival, in a news release. “This year is no different and we are excited to celebrate and kick off the event.”
The festival will use five venues in and around Cathedral Village — the Artesian On 13th, Sask Express Theatre, Royal Saskatchewan Museum, Unitarian Fellowship of Regina and St. Mary’s Anglican Church. With 22 performances per day, the festival will feature a total of 110 performances.
The event also includes a oneday Kid’s Fringe event on July 14 at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. In addition to four live performances in the theatre, the event will include two outdoor performances by KAOS Dogs Sports. The event will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Advance tickets are $12 per show and can be purchased online at reginafringe.ca. Tickets are $14 at the door.
