Lukiwski can show us how it’s done

Regina Leader-Post - - OPINION -

I have some comments on Tom Lukiwski’s letter in the Oct. 9 Leader-post which criticized the new trade agreement.

Given the circumstances south of the border, it was known from the start Canada was going to come out second-best — or possibly third-best — in the new agreement. I have a hard time imagining any party coming up with anything much better. When you’re a little dog and the big dog — which doesn’t play well with others — decides to eat some of your food, you need to think carefully about your response.

Since Andrew Scheer has a good chance at being our next prime minister, and Donald Trump has a good chance at being elected for a second term, perhaps Andrew will send Tom to Washington to renegotiate the deal. He can then show the world how to play hardball with the big dog. Bob Abernethy, Estevan
