Once again we have a rightwing government, this time in Saskatchewan — not Alberta, which has seen the light — refusing to raise the minimum wage because it will kill jobs.
Study after study has proven this to be false. Not even the Fraser Institute can give their business masters a study that stands up under credible scrutiny.
What raising the minimum wage does is kill profiteering and create livable wages. Larry Deters, Regina

Well how many people do you think have to live on minimum wage? For many many people that is their sole source of income. Sure some companies will give regular wage increases that are reasonable, but many companies take advantage of their employees and turn huge profits all the while keeping people in unsupportable debt.
What is a reasonable minimum wage? Well if you look across all the provinces, we are second to last. A huge increase is needed, and can be implemented at a reasonable rate that won't kill jobs.
Take Amazon for example, Bezo is the world's richest man and with a lot of effort, pressure was put on him to raise wages. He did and I applaud him for that.
Larry gets his name in the paper again! And the above comments are right on! Left of left Larry!
Larry worked for the government all his life. He has no idea how business or even an economy works. And he has lots of time to post because he lives off a fat government pension that businesses are paying for. He contributes nothing to society but bad ideas.
Well one thing you're successful at Larry is getting your name in the paper, even if you're out of touch with how business works !! First off, minimum wage jobs were never meant to be enough to live on. They were out there to keep a spot where employers had to start paying their new hires. If you have an employee that's been with you for 5 years and paying him increase that now have him at $17.00 an hour which is $6.00 an hour over a new hire, how is that employee going to react when a new hire is only $2.00 behind him ? In order to keep that person happy and working for you, you're going to have to bump him to $23.00 an hour. Guess who pays in the end ? The taxpayers & consumers !! Think before you post !!
