Sillinger’s hat trick paces Pat Canadians

Cole Sillinger had a hat trick Saturday to power the Regina Pat Canadians to a 5-2 Saskatchew­an Midget AAA Hockey League victory over the Tisdale Trojans.

Jack Glen added a goal and two assists for the Pat C’s, who got a goal and an assist from Carter Belitski.

Liam Rutten and Trenton Curtis replied for Tisdale.

Regina carried a 13-3-2-2 record into Sunday’s rematch with the visiting Trojans.

The Melville Prairie Fire registered a 1-0 shootout victory over the Regina Rebels in Saskatchew­an Female Midget AAA Hockey League action Saturday at the Ochapowace Arena.

Cheyanne Jamieson made 49 saves for the shutout. Regina’s Chantel Weller stopped 39 shots over 70 minutes.

Allison Hayhurst was the only one of eight shooters to score in the shootout.

Michael Mcchesney was the first star as the Estevan Bruins edged the host Melfort Mustangs 4-3 in SJHL action Saturday.

Mcchesney and Johnny Witzke each had a goal and an assist for Estevan, which also got goals from Turner Ripplinger and TJ Irey. Justin Ball paced Melfort with two goals.

Also on Saturday, Austen Flaman scored in overtime to give the Nipawin Hawks a 3-2 victory over the visiting Weyburn Red Wings.

Cade Kowalski had both goals for Weyburn. His second goal, with 30 seconds remaining in the third period, forced overtime.

The Mandi Schwartz Memorial Tournament, featuring 16 of the top female midget AAA hockey teams in Western Canada, is to run Thursday to Sunday in Wilcox and Milestone.

Forty games will be played over four days. The final is slated for Sunday, 3:30 p.m., at Duncan Mcneill Arena in Wilcox.

Raymore-born Austin Linnen scored two goals Saturday to help the host Delisle Chiefs defeat the Traveland RV Storm 7-2 in Prairie Junior Hockey League action.

Linnen has 18 goals and 18 assists in 17 games this season.
