Reach your potential with Girl Guides of Canada

-

Guiding provides a safe, allgirl environment that invites girls to challenge themselves, to find their voice, meet new friends, have fun, and make a difference in the world. Girl Guides of Canada–guides du Canada (GGC) recognizes and values the richness of human diversity in its many forms, and therefore strives to ensure environments where girls and women from all walks of life, identities, and lived experiences feel a sense of belonging and can participate fully. This commitment to inclusion means GGC’S culture, programming, and practices encourage self-awareness and awareness of others; room for difference; and environments where girls and women feel safe, respected, supported, and inspired to reach their potential.

Girl Guides is an organization with over 100 years of history and a strong, growing future. Today, GGC continues to be a place that sparks the imagination of girls to take action on what matters to them. As female role models, our adult members support girls to achieve and succeed – through fun, adventures, challenges, and international experiences. Guiding continues to play an important role in communities right across Canada.

Through our membership in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, Girl Guides of Canada is part of a global movement to enable girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible global citizens. WAGGGS brings together Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Associations in 145 countries across the globe. It is the largest voluntary organization for girls and women in the world. Girl Guides of Canada’s membership in WAGGGS enables Canadian girls and women to have a direct and positive impact on the lives of girls and women globally.

There are many fun and exciting activities that members participate in during the winter months: meetings held outdoors, winter camps and sleepovers, snowshoeing, the Klondike Hike, World Thinking Day on February 22nd, Pathfinder/ranger Conference, Lady B-P Weekend for Guides, and the January Conference training weekend for Adult members and Rangers.

Members are encouraged to participate in outdoor activities throughout the year, and with a little preparation and some warm clothes, winter is sometimes the best time of year!

Playing outside is how children develop some of their most cherished memories.

Getting outside and connecting with the outdoors is a grounding experience and a great environment in which to address the GGC Mission – to be a catalyst for girls empowering girls.

Experiencing life outdoors helps girls become confident, resourceful, courageous, and enables them to learn how to make a difference in the world.
