PRE-LIT qualifying games set for Monday night at Luther College

PRE-LIT — a qualifier for the Luther Invitation­al Tournament — is to be held Monday night at Luther College High School’s Semple Gymnasium.

Games are set for 6:15 p.m. (Leboldus Golden Suns versus Miller Marauders) and 8 p.m. (Campbell Tartans versus Winston Knoll Wolverines).

The winners will earn Regina’s senior boys basketball berths in the 67th annual LIT, Feb. 7-9.

Blake Swetlikoff had a goal and an assist for the Regina Pat Canadians on Saturday in their 3-2 Saskatchew­an Midget AAA Hockey League victory over the Saskatoon Blazers at the Co-operators Centre.

Luc Marleau and Carter Belitski were the other goal-scorers for Regina, which improved its record to 21-4-2-2. Trystyn Bryks scored both goals for Saskatoon (26-7-02).

Jarvis Gelowitz and Connor Nagel each had two goals and one assist for the Traveland RV Storm on Saturday in its 8-7 Prairie Junior Hockey League victory over the Assiniboia Southern Rebels at Mossbank Arena.

The Storm improved its Bill Johnston Division-leading record to 22-7-0-0.

The Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals, who lost 10-1 to the host Saskatoon Quakers on Saturday, are in second place — three points behind the Storm, with one game in hand.

Jared Legien, formerly of the WHL’S Regina Pats, had three goals and two assists Saturday as the Yorkton Terriers posted an 11-2 SJHL victory over the host Weyburn Red Wings.

Quinten Hobbs also had a hat trick for Yorkton.

Legien has 60 points, including 33 goals, in 37 games with Yorkton this season.

Also on Saturday, the Melfort Mustangs’ Justin Ball scored his league-leading 42nd goal in a 5-4 loss to the host Flin Flon Bombers.

Meanwhile, Dysart-born Devan Harrison scored at 1:04 of overtime to give the Estevan Bruins a 4-3 victory over the visiting Notre Dame Hounds. Harrison added two assists.
