Goalie stops 48 shots in shutout for Capitals
Jordan Berschiminsky made 48 saves for the shutout as the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals defeated the Triple Seven Chrysler Storm 5-0 in Prairie Junior Hockey League action Wednesday at the Pilot Butte Recreation Centre.
Matt Kesslering had two goals for the Capitals, who got singles from Cale Tuer-treble, Dawsen Parker and Kyle Colwell.
Chantz Petruic had a goal
and an assist for the Yorkton Terriers in their 3-1 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League victory over the Notre Dame Hounds on Wednesday in Wilcox.
After 27 games, Petruic is the league’s runaway leader in goals (29) and points (56).
The University of Regina Cougars
women’s volleyball team is to play host to the University of Calgary Dinos this weekend.
Canada West matches are set for 6 p.m., at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport.
In women’s hockey, the Cougars are preparing for a home-and-home set with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. Games are set for Friday in Saskatoon and Saturday at the Co-operators Centre. Both contests are at 7 p.m.
The Cougars and Huskies will also face off in men’s hockey, with 7 p.m. games Friday (at the Co-operators Centre) and Saturday (Saskatoon).
The U of R’s swimming team is at the Canada West championships, which run Friday to Sunday in Lethbridge.
Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association
volleyball championship tournaments are set for Friday and Saturday in Glaslyn and Medstead (1A boys), Wilkie (2A boys), Tisdale (3A boys) and North Battleford (4A boys).
