CAREY’S TUNE IS MOST ANNOYING

-

British listeners have voted and all they want for Christmas is not to hear All I Want for Christmas Is You. A poll by mobile phone company Huawei found Mariah Carey’s smash hit is the most annoying holiday song, Variety reported Monday.

Composed in just 15 minutes by Carey, shown, and her writing partner, Walter Afanasieff, the 1994 song is generally considered among the most recent to be included in the canon of holiday tunes.

Following Carey on the list of pleasedon’t-plays is Do They Know It’s Christmas by Band Aid, I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday by ’70s British glam rock band Wizzard and Merry Xmas Everybody by Slade.

Last Christmas by Wham!, Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty Maccoll, and Baby It’s Cold Outside by Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews also made the list.
