WHAT’S ON IN REGINA, DEC. 5-11

•The Regina Little Theatre presents It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, nightly through Dec. 7, 7:30 p.m. (and a Saturday matinee at 1:30 p.m.) at the Regina Performing Arts Centre. It’s the story you (most likely) know, brought to life as a 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas

•Saskexpres­s’s holiday show, A Christmas Story: The Musical, includes 19 people and one dog. The classic story, based on the 1983 film, runs this week and next at Saskexpres­s Theatre (2272 Pasqua St.). Shows are Thursday, Dec. 5, Friday, Dec. 6, Saturday, Dec. 7, and Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, there are matinees at 2 p.m. Check saskexpres­s.com for tickets.

•There’s standup comedy at the Casino Regina Show Lounge on

•If you were thinking of attending Johnny Reid’s concert at the Conexus Arts Centre on Thursday, too bad for you — it’s sold out.

•Scott Anthony will release his CD “Young Man on Scarth Street Playin’ Saxophone” and the Sisters of Mercy under the direction of Corinne Groff will have their Season Concert. That’s at The Artesian on Thursday, Dec. 5, 8 p.m.

•The Brother Brothers are identical twins who play folk music. From Brooklyn, N.Y., Adam and David Moss have drawn comparison­s to Simon and Garfunkel and The Milk Carton Kids. This Grassroots Regina show is Thursday, Dec. 5, 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance at Vintage Vinyl or online through eventbrite.com, or $25 at the door.

•The Regina Mandolin Orchestra is having a Christmas concert at Westminste­r United Church on Friday, Dec. 6, 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults at eventbrite. ca.

•Regina folk-punk band G.B.

Loon is having a cassette release party (yes, this is 2019) for new album Loonie Tunes. Bass and drum duo Mechadroid and garage-rock foursome Pop Pop Vernac open the show. That’s at The Exchange on Friday, Dec. 6, 8 p.m. Cover is $10 or pay-whatyou-can.

•The Regina Symphony Orchestra is having one of its casual Sessions concerts at the Artesian on Friday, Dec. 6, 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 online or at the door.

•Jeffery Straker’s A Very Prairie Christmas tour is Friday, Dec.

6, 8 p.m. at the Casino Regina Show Lounge. The Regina singer-songwriter-pianist shares songs and stories, as he learned to do growing up on a farm near Punnichy. “Whether it was neighbours bringing instrument­s over to our farmhouse to play together into the wee hours of the night, singing around the piano, or hearing the sacred Christmas songs in church — there was always a musical backdrop to the holiday season. Great storytelli­ng strung it all together. Those songs and stories have stuck with me and I want to bring some of that to the stage with this concert.” Tickets are $31.50 at casinoregi­na.com.

•Queen City Brass band presents Spread the Warmth on Saturday, Dec. 7, 7:30 p.m. at Knox-metropolit­an United

•The Campbell Collegiate choirs and string orchestra perform their Christmas concert at First Nations University on Sunday, Dec. 8, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Admission is by donation.

•Round Midnight plays jazz music at Bushwakker on Monday, Dec. 9, 8 p.m.

•The Alley Dawgs (and special guests) celebrate 20th-century country music every Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. sharp at the Fat Badger. Admission is free.

•Feliz Navidad! Boney M and Liz Mitchell play Holiday Favourites and Classic Hits at the Conexus Arts Centre on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $39.
