MONDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2019 Scorpio Moon Rules the Festival of Lights

A spiritual way of being isn’t acquired, it has always been, though an awareness of one’s true nature may ebb and flow. The Scorpio moon that rules this beginning to Hanukkah lends a soulful feeling to the rituals of the holiday. “To me every hour of the light and dark is a miracle, every cubic inch of space is a miracle.” -- Walt Whitman

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Where can you get fresh air, fantastic ideas, blood flow, soul healing and a metabolism boost without buying a single thing? Walking outdoors. It’s where the best things will happen today.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Ultimately, you get to choose how you spend your time. It’s easy to lose sight of this when you’re with dominant people who would like you to join their agenda. It’s fun when it’s your choice and you feel in control.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You’ve all but forgotten about that little chunk of good karma you generated years ago, though it hasn’t forgotten about you. It will circle back right when it will be most profound to receive it.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You’ll be prolific, producing much more than you thought you would, so apply yourself where you are most needed or where you are certain to enjoy yourself as you work.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You want something you haven’t articulated yet. Maybe you’ve been afraid to say it out loud. Regardless, it’s go time. State the deal. Things will only start happening after you eliminate the ambiguity in a relationship.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You don’t like to be teased unless the teasing is so playful or interesting that it’s somehow its own reward. Movie trailers sometimes fit the bill. One thing that doesn’t is when people say, “I’ll tell you later.”

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You’ll be good at figuring people out and settling into a place that’s going to work well with the entire group. It will probably mean chipping in even when you don’t feel ready or holding back when you feel overqualified.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You can’t go any faster or do any more than your best. Expecting yourself to is unloving. There is no need to punish yourself nor is there a gain from doing so that makes any sense.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You require things of your relationships, things that are not spoken about, but are nonetheless clearly conveyed to the observant counterpart. The nonobservant counterpart will be utterly lost.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). If you gain by losing and lose by gaining, then you’ll be on par with most people today. But if you can celebrate this with genuine enthusiasm and gratitude for the funny way life works out, then you’ll be in a league of your own.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Those willing to compromise to make an arrangement work are more invested in the success of the arrangement than they are in their personal satisfaction or ego gratification.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). What one person considers very awkward is a comfortable family tradition to someone else. You’ll be reading the signals, dialed into the microexpressions that tell the inside story.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Dec. 23). Love is a form of faith. To love someone is to trust your heart to someone else’s care. You will learn someone very well, and choose carefully how to invest your feelings. But ultimately, love is still a risk. It is because you are willing to take the risk that you experience so much beauty and fulfillment. Libra and Gemini adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 3, 30, 6, 22 and 14.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: “When I listen to a song, I hear the words and think about what they mean. Is it wrong that it really bothers me that he doesn’t? He butchers them when he sings along, and doesn’t know or care what any song is about. Is that a Taurus thing? I’m not saying that I’m going to stop dating him over this, but... would I be wrong to?”

There are lyric people, and there are rhythm people.

Taurus rules the vocal cords and it also rules earthly rhythm. While there are millions of Taurus natives who care deeply about the words, he’s more concerned with the feel of the groove. Rhythm people keep the action flowing. Their responsibility to the beat of both life and music means they feel they can’t afford to stop and consider things deeply.

Lyric people are in no rush. They want to understand the meaning of things and will take all the time they need to do so. When a rhythm person mows over their process, the lyric person feels uncomfortable, overlooked and disregarded. These two may not listen to music or do other things the same way, but they do have complementary strengths. That said, stop dating him if you want to. You need no reason. Love has its own irrational logic. If you don’t feel it; you’re not feeling it.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Besides being ranked by Rolling Stone magazine as among the best singers of all time, Eddie Vedder is known for his social and political commentary, activism and stage dives. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer was born when the sun and Mercury were in passionate Sagittarius and the moon was in Leo, the sign of showmanship. Lucky Jupiter was in Taurus, the sign of the voice.
