As Canada nears the eightmonth mark since the start of the COVID- 19 crisis, Saskatchewanians are doing their best within the reality of life in a pandemic. To help out our neighbours and give the economy a boost, the Regina Leader- Post is launching Support and Buy Local Auction, a special online event fromnov. 4 - 10.

Consumers can save big on both necessities and luxuries this season while supporting their favourite local brands—all from the safety and comfort of their homes. With winter quickly approaching, bidders can access a wide range of products and services perfect for everything from home improvement projects to holiday preparations.

“As we continue to fight the spread of COVID-19, people are finding new ways to show their support for the community while staying safe,” says Heath Mulligan, manager of integrated advertising sales at Postmedia in Saskatchewan.

“The pandemic has pushed us to think creatively about how we can help one another. The Support and Buy Local Auction is a digital platform for businesses and consumers alike to come together, weather this storm and show our collective strength and optimism,” he explains.

“Our summer auction provided deep discounts on thousands of dollars’ worth of goods. The followup winter sale is the perfect way to prepare for the season and start holiday shopping: shoppers can find great deals on products and services and business owners can engage new audiences online.”

Bidders will have access to a cornucopia of goods. Auction items include gift cards from the Lakeshore Restaurant, Stats Cocktails & Dreams, Tommy ’ s Speakeatery, Gringo’s Tacos, The Diplomat, Da India Curry House and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The sale will include equipment from Fitness Warehouse, photography packages from Taylor Swenson Photography and much, much more!

For local businesses, the auction is an opportunity to invest at a time when cash flow is limited. Items from existing inventory can be put up for auction. In return, the Regina Leader-post will provide the full retail value of all items sold toward future advertising, regardless of the winning bids.

The Support and Buy Local Auction will begin at 10 a.m. on Nov. 4 and will close on Nov. 10. Bids will be accepted throughout the duration of the auction.
