COVID `soldiers' need our help

-

More than a million of our fellow Canadians made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting in wars so all Canadians would always have the right of freedom.

Today, we are fighting a war against an invisible enemy called COVID-19. The front-line workers who put their lives at risk each day are the “soldiers” who work in the health care system. Their “allies” are the many people who leave the safety of their homes each day to provide multiple services so others are able to carry on with their lives. As each of these workers begin their daily work, they are obligated to don masks, gloves and in many cases full body protection with nary a word of what their rights are.

Our government and its medical experts have implemented rules to protect the population from contacting this virus and hopefully curbing the increase in cases. The majority of the people follow these rules but there are a few people who feel these rules infringe on their freedom and ignore the government recommendations.

The anti-mask protesters believe it is their right not to wear a mask and this poses a threat to other people's lives. Some anti-maskers seem to think it is their right to verbally and/or physically abuse those who request they wear a mask when entering public spaces. Do they believe their rights are more important than the rights of the majority? I do not believe this is the type of freedom that our soldiers fought to obtain.

We are all trying to avoid the risk of becoming ill or dying so please mask up, social distance and stay within your own bubble.
