Riel, rides and more with lifting of rules

-

As Saskatchewan reopens and emerges from restrictions that were imposed to curtail the spread of COVID-19, many activities are returning and new ones being added.

Here's a sampling:

BUS PROMOTION

Regina Transit is welcoming back bus passengers with no capacity limits or mask requirements, given the lifting of pandemic restrictions. As a special promotion between July 16 to Aug. 13, passengers receive a second month for free with the purchase of one 31-day adult, youth or senior pass. That means 62 days of unlimited rides for the price of one 31-day pass. Passes can be purchased at any transit agent and must be purchased within the specified dates. Regina Transit will continue to have enhanced cleaning protocols, and passengers may continue to wear masks at their discretion. For more information, check out Regina.ca/transit.

LONG-RUNNING PLAY RETURNS

John Coulter's production of The Trial of Louis Riel returns for its 55th year. Because of the pandemic, there was only one showing last year — with a very small audience at the Turvey Centre and a livestream for at-home viewing. Now the RCMP Heritage Centre will play host for seven performances by Rielco Productions starting with a premier on July 22 that includes a traditional Metis meal prepared by chef Milton from Skye Bistro with input from Metis chef Jenni Lessard. That will be followed by matinee and evening performances July 23-25, 30-31, and Aug. 1. Tickets are available through rcmphc. com or at guest services at the RCMP Heritage Centre, 5907 Dewdney Ave.

QCX CHANGES

A change has been made to ticketing for this year's Queen City Ex, which runs from Aug. 20-22 and 25-29. All gate admission and Daytripper passes can now be purchased for any day of the Ex. With the lifting of restrictions, there's no need to pick a specific day for these two passes. Anyone who previously purchased day-specific gate admission or Daytripper passes can now use them on any day of their choosing. Information at queencityex.com.
