Governments not to blame, we are

-

“Blame the government!” or versions of this are being trumpeted daily throughout Saskatchewan, although it is not just Saskatchewan. Let's ask ourselves a very important question. When are we, the people, responsible for our actions and decisions?

The government DID lock down our province, the government DID help out by providing financial assistance, the government DID restrict the numbers of social gatherings, the government DID mandate masks, the government DID work out a delivery system to get vaccines to everyone and the government DID develop a sequence so we all could be vaccinated in an orderly and timely fashion. The government had it ready so 98 per cent of the eligible citizens could be vaccinated. The government DID its due diligence. When are we ready and willing to assume our responsibility, our blame and our shame?

We MUST assume responsibility for refusing to be vaccinated, preferring to infect family, friends and strangers alike with coronavirus. We MUST assume responsibility for refusing to continue being clean (from washing our hands to cleaning tables in restaurants). We MUST assume responsibility for refusing to remain home when feeling sick and getting tested. We, the people, MUST assume responsibility for refusing to wear a mask when the COVID-19 numbers started to go up.

It's easy to blame someone else — the government — for our own failures. It is time we address our failures and together we, the people, WILL stomp this virus down and give everyone a healthy future in Saskatchewan.
