Moose Jaw Warriors one win away from WHL Eastern Conference Final

After losing the first game in their second-round best-of-seven series against the Swift Current Broncos, the Moose Jaw Warriors have rattled off three straight victories and are one more away from moving on.

On Wednesday night, the Warriors found themselves down 2-1 in Game 4 of their Western Hockey League Eastern Conference semifinal matchup against the Broncos before Moose Jaw scored four straight goals to win the game 5-2 and take a 3-1 series lead.

Conor Geekie and Caleb Wyrostok scored for Swift Current while Jagger Firkus (2), Ethan Hughes, Brayden Yager and Rilen Kovacevic found the back of the net for Moose Jaw.

Jackson Unger made 36 saves in the win, while Reid Dyck stopped 30 of 34 shots in the loss. Moose Jaw's final goal was an empty netter.

The 5-2 win by Moose Jaw followed a 5-3 victory in Game 3 on Tuesday. Swift Current won the opening game 7-2 while Moose Jaw took Game 2, also by a score of 7-2.

The Warriors can advance to the WHL Eastern Conference Final with a win in Game 5 in Moose Jaw on Friday night.

If the Broncos win, Game 6 is set for Sunday back in Swift Current. If necessary, Game 7 would be played Tuesday in Moose Jaw.

The winner of this series will advance to play the Saskatoon Blades, who beat the Red Deer Rebels in four straight games in the other Eastern Conference semifinal. Saskatoon clinched the series with a 7-0 win on Wednesday night.

In the Western Conference, the Prince George Cougars have a 3-1 series lead over the Kelowna Rockets while the Portland Winterhawk­s are up 3-0 on the Everett Silvertips.
