Rustica, one of the 905’s newest Italian eateries, celebrated their grand opening on Oct. 3 with more than 500 curious foodies stopping by. This classic Italian restaurant is a new go-to for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with mid-range prices for all three. The 150-seat restaurant also features an extensive yet inexpensive wine menu and combines authenticity and modernity (126 Tower Hill Rd., 905-770-0101). Got a sweet tooth?

Cupcakes A La Carte has recently opened a kiosk at Centerpoint Mall. The small GTA chain features locally baked cupcakes, delivered fresh to their stores every day. They specialize in cake pops, macarons and other scrumptious treats for individual snack purchases or buying in bulk for a party. Want to know something really sweet? Not only do they carry more than two dozen flavours of cupcakes, they also carry vegan cupcakes (6464 Yonge St., 416-806-6917). The Promenade Shopping Centre welcomes Ferrone, a luxury

Sandro women’s retailer that brings the inspired style of Europe to the 905. Sandro’s first location is a favourite in North York’s Bayview Village Shopping Centre and brings in made-in-Italy fashions from Sandro Ferrone every four to six weeks. They describe their style as “business woman with an edge,” but try to cater to all styles (1 Promenade Cir., 905-597-1827). Can’t get enough Italian food?

Trambusto in Thornhill is garnering rave reviews for its Romano pizza and pasta. With mid-range prices and a family-friendly atmosphere, Trambusto is a fast, casual concept — though everything is still made from scratch with a romantic open kitchen. Several more locations are soon to come, across the GTA (9001 Dufferin St., 905553-6400).
