Raising the roof on Yonge St.

Richmond Hill Post - - Neighbourhood News -

A new condo has been approved on Yonge Street, and the developer is on course to build beyond the original height limit.

The tower is set to be a 34-storey mixed-use building with 431 dwellings and three floors of commercial space. The developer, the Conservatory Group, doesn’t want to add any floors, but instead wants to increase the floor-to-ceiling height in each dwelling by one foot. The property is the final building to go up on the block of Yonge Street, Hollywood Avenue, Doris Avenue and Spring Garden Avenue.

“For this newest application we were looking at increasing the height maximum from 100 meters to 114 meters,” said Paul Bryne, manager of planning in North York.

But according to Bryne, Toronto City Council took too long to make a decision on the height limits, so the developers appealed to the OMB. The hearing is set for Feb. 5.
