2011 Stephane Aviron Vieilles Vignes Fleurie, Beaujolais, France

Richmond Hill Post - - Red, White And Brewed -

Fleurie is one of the 10 named crus (high-quality vineyards) in the granite hills in the north of the Beaujolais region. This is not your usual gulpable Beaujolais since it has spent a year in oak to give it more volume and mouth feel. Deep purple in colour, the nose suggests crushed cherries accented with oak notes. Fruity and full on the palate, the cherry flavour is carried on lively acidity to a fresh finish. Food match: grilled tuna; veal chop.
