Richmond Hill Post - - Education Guide -

The CCOC changes children’s lives through the magic of opera. As performers and audience members, choristers enjoy singing and acting on stage with seasoned professionals, rehearsing, touring, and recording, while learning self-confidence, self-discipline, and teamwork. Founded in 1968 as the children’s chorus of the Canadian Opera Company, the CCOC is the only permanent opera company in North America that regularly commissions and produces operas performed by and for children and youth. Membership is by audition only (waived for ages 3 & 4). In addition to performances with the COC, the compa- ny regularly collaborates and performs with other leading arts organizations. Five commercial recordings have been released, garnering a Juno nomination in 2007, and a sixth, Lullabies, is due in summer 2015. Ages 3 – 19, with rehearsals at St. Clair & Avenue Rd. A new CCOC North division serves ages 7-11, rehearsing in Richmond Hill.
