Thornhill’s hockey hero

Richmond Hill Post - - Life -

There is no shortage of heroes for young kids in the GTA to look up to, and Toronto Maple Leafs phenom Mitch Marner could be heading to the top of that list with his performance this season.

The Thornhill native started his youth hockey career playing with the Clarington Toros of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association. Currently, Marner is one of the NHL’s top young players after being taken fourth overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, and he was voted Rookie of the Month in January.

Marner joins fellow Thornhiller Zack Hyman on the Maple Leafs. The youngsters, along with Auston Matthews, have done much to make being a Maple Leafs fan fun again, no matter what the age.

The 905 Kid Mitch Marner played his minor hockey in Clarington, Whitby and Don Mills.
