Al­fredo Ro­driguez has been in the restau­rant busi­ness since he was 13. Food, wine & en­ter­tain­ing are sec­ond na­ture. Start­ing in Mex­ico, he has worked in sev­eral restau­rants in­clud­ing Spain & Canada. At the age of 17, Al­fredo knew his dream was to open up his own es­tab­lish­ment. 14 years later, his dream came to life with BLU Ris­torante. Ital­ian in­spired with a mod­ern twist, BLU’s menu is care­fully se­lected by Al­fredo, his chef and team. To­gether, they have been able to acheive an up­scale Ital­ian Kitchen that is to be rooted in tra­di­tion but still very rep­re­sen­ta­tive of what mod­ern Ital­ian din­ing is now. Along with the core menu items like Tuna Tar­tar, Veal Sal­tim­bocca and Chilean Seabass, new dishes are in­tro­duced sea­son­ally to bring a fresh pal­ette to their sea­soned cus­tomers as well as the new. Blu has been ranked one of the top 100 restau­rants in Canada by Open Ta­ble din­ers. Al­fredo’s key to suc­cess is his abil­ity to gen­uinely care for his cus­tomers, treat­ing them as he would treat his close friends & fam­ily when host­ing a din­ner at home. “Al­though I don’t work with fam­ily, my col­leagues & cus­tomers have be­come like fam­ily, be­cause we all share the same pas­sion for food & wine,” he says.
