A Menu filled with Greek Delicacies
Who inspired you to cook? My mom. What was your favourite dish when you were young? Avgolemono Soup - which is a popular greek soup made with lemon, chicken and orzo.
What dish is your restaurant famous for? Our Spanakopita is second to none! Spanokopita is a classic greek phyllo pie filled with soft spinach and feta cheese.
What is the secret to your success? Hard work and getting to know our customers has always been important. But our delicious home cooking and the friendly atmosphere are what keeps the family tradition alive and the customers coming back for more! What has been your proudest moment is business? When Karbouzi's story began in Toronto 1970. My parents Effie and Terry moved to a photography shop on Avenue Road, which they renovated and opened up as "City Burger Inn"- a diner style restaurant, which later became nicknamed "City Restaurant". In 1992 my brother Nick and I, decided to revamp the family diner to a traditional Greek restaurant called Karbouzi . We’ve come a long way since our roots, but the important things have always remained the same. Now we’re a staple on Avenue Road.
