Who in­spired you to cook? My mom. What was your favourite dish when you were young? Av­gole­mono Soup - which is a pop­u­lar greek soup made with lemon, chicken and orzo.

What dish is your restau­rant fa­mous for? Our Spanako­pita is sec­ond to none! Spanoko­pita is a clas­sic greek phyllo pie filled with soft spinach and feta cheese.

What is the se­cret to your suc­cess? Hard work and get­ting to know our cus­tomers has al­ways been im­por­tant. But our de­li­cious home cook­ing and the friendly at­mos­phere are what keeps the fam­ily tra­di­tion alive and the cus­tomers com­ing back for more! What has been your proud­est mo­ment is busi­ness? When Kar­bouzi's story be­gan in Toronto 1970. My par­ents Effie and Terry moved to a pho­tog­ra­phy shop on Av­enue Road, which they ren­o­vated and opened up as "City Burger Inn"- a diner style restau­rant, which later be­came nick­named "City Restau­rant". In 1992 my brother Nick and I, de­cided to re­vamp the fam­ily diner to a tra­di­tional Greek restau­rant called Kar­bouzi . We’ve come a long way since our roots, but the im­por­tant things have al­ways re­mained the same. Now we’re a sta­ple on Av­enue Road.
