From York­dale beauty pop-up to 905 flag­ship lo­ca­tion

Af­ter a suc­cess­ful six-month run as a pop-up store at York­dale, Beau­tyco now has a per­ma­nent lo­ca­tion at the Hill­crest Mall. An owner with a pas­sion for beauty, Shari Gold has hired a team spe­cial­iz­ing in var­i­ous ser­vices such as lash ex­ten­sions, lifts and tints, mi­crob­lad­ing, per­ma­nent makeup, eye­brow de­sign and many oth­ers. Ap­point­ments can be booked on­line (9350 Yonge St., 905-508-3777). Rich­mond Hill has a new bar­be­cue spot. Kansas King serves dishes in­spired by the cui­sine found in the Amer­i­can grilling hot­bed of Kansas City, Mis­souri. The slow-cooked meats are the high­lights of this menu, with many items smoth­ered in a home­made bar­be­cue sauce and served with spe­cial in-house gravy. Kansas King also of­fers up sig­na­ture smoked cock­tails as well as craft beers to pair up with its bar­be­cue of­fer­ings (10447 Yonge St., 905-780-6265).

Su­per Bowl Pho Restau­rant is the lat­est Viet­namese restau­rant to ar­rive in Rich­mond Hill. The pho is of course the main at­trac­tion here, but the menu also of­fers rice and noo­dle dishes cooked in a va­ri­ety of ways and spice lev­els. There is even taro bub­ble tea on the menu, some­thing that was com­pli­men­tary to all cus­tomers dur­ing the restau­rant’s open­ing week (10593 Yonge St., Unit 1-2, 905-508-7528).

CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice is open­ing a new shop in Rich­mond Hill. Bub­ble tea is the house spe­cial here, with many other drinks avail­able. With a large store, this CoCo lo­ca­tion has plenty of space to sit down and en­joy a re­fresh­ing bev­er­age. Ded­i­cated to cre­at­ing the most de­li­cious tea of­fer­ings and with over 2,500 stores glob­ally and a con­stant de­sire to ex­pand and cre­ate new drinks, CoCo is a must for all bub­ble tea lovers (9555 Yonge St., Unit 1, 905-237-1686).

Chicken in the Kitchen has opened its first lo­ca­tion in North Amer­ica. This restau­rant of­fers one of South Korea’s favourite pair­ings: beer and chicken. Known as chi­maek, it is served in the evenings at restau­rants across South Korea. One of the most pop­u­lar dishes brought over is the Cheese Vol­cano Chicken, a plat­ter of fried good­ness topped with rosé sauce and a Gouda- and Parme­san-filled bread bowl (5600 Yonge St., 416-224-5509). There is a new Mid­dle Eastern spot in Thorn­hill.

Jor­dan’s Shawarma has opened a sec­ond lo­ca­tion in the GTA, bring­ing with it all the shawar­mas, falafels, burg­ers, hot dogs and sal­ads that cus­tomers are ac­cus­tomed to. Lunch or din­ner, cus­tomers will find a fa­mil­iar menu here that in­cludes wraps, plates and sand­wiches as well as some dessert favourites like baklava (2300 John St., 905-597-2829).
