Legion calendars honour past and present military heroes

Cape Tormentine Legion honouring military heroes

Sackville Tribune - - TANTRAMAR - BY JOAN LEBLANC SPECIAL TO THE TRIBUNE- POST

The Cape Tormentine Legion, Branch No. 81 is again honouring local military heroes with the publication of an annual veterans’ calendar.

For the past six years, legion members have gathered photos and information on those who have served this country through military service, both during wartime, past and present, and during peace time.

Sonny Mccarron, legion first vice-presi- dent in charge of the calendar project, said members believe it is important to honour the service, and, in many instances, the memory of local military servicemen and women.

“The idea came from another branch in our district that has since disbanded,” Mccarron said. “One of our members bought one of their calendars and our members decided it was a good project to take on. It’s not a big money-maker, but that’s not the reason we do it each year.”

He said legion members believe veterans both past and present deserve to have recognition.
