Talk will highlight N.B. Prosperity Not Austerity Coalition
Geoff Martin, a member of CUPE 3433, the Mount Allison Staff Association, will discuss the development process and contents of the 2018 Progressive Election Platform at an upcoming meeting.
Martin is a member of the steering committee for the N. B. Prosperity Not Austerity Coalition and will speak Thursday, Dec. 6.
The Coalition came together in 2015, recognizing a need to counter the conservative ideas that seemed to dominate the N.B. media landscape.
Neoliberalism has been in crisis since the 2007- 08 economic meltdown, but the discrediting of neoliberal ideas has not made much impact in New Brunswick media or in elite circles.
The goal of the progressive election platform was to provide ideas for voters and members of all political parties who have been seeking an alternative to the prevailing conservative ideas about public policy.
The Dec. 6 talk will take place at noon in room 120 of the Avard Dixon Building on the Mount Allison campus.
