Lois Ma­belle (Mccon­nell) Smith De­cem­ber 21, 1935-Novem­ber 30, 2018

We lost a most beloved, kind and gen­er­ous, wife, mother, grand­mother, friend and neigh­bour to­day.

Lois Ma­belle (Mccon­nell) Smith passed away at the Drew Nurs­ing Home late Fri­day evening, Novem­ber 30, 2018, fol­low­ing a long and brave bat­tle with Parkin­son’s dis­ease.

Born in Saint John, N.B. on De­cem­ber 21, 1935, she was the daugh­ter of the late Ma­belle (Shaw) and Robert Mccon­nell.

The last sur­viv­ing mem­ber of her im­me­di­ate fam­ily, Lois will be lov­ingly re­mem­bered by her hus­band of 64 years, Ron­ald Smith; her chil­dren, Lori (Philip) Ritcey, Lynda Smith, Jamie Smith and Jef­frey (Amy) Smith; her grand­chil­dren, Brad and Laura Ritcey, Mitch Smith and Alexan­dra Smith.

Be­sides her par­ents, she was pre­de­ceased by her sis­ters, Gertrude, Eleanor, Bar­bara and Jean, as well as by her brothers, James and Robert.

Lois was a mem­ber of the Sackville United Church and the UCW, as well as a Char­ter Mem­ber of the Lord Sackville Chap­ter IODE and en­joyed curl­ing, play­ing bridge and ru­moli. Lois was a first-rate cook, an avid veg­etable and flower gar­dener, an an­i­mal lover and a kind and loyal friend. Travel was also a big part of Lois’s life. In 1966, she and Ron and their four chil­dren, set out for Nige­ria for two years. Quite the ad­ven­ture! Dur­ing this pe­riod, the fam­ily trav- elled ex­ten­sively through­out Europe.

Fu­neral ar­range­ments have been en­trusted to Camp­bell’s Fu­neral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. A Cel­e­bra­tion of Lois’s life will take place at the fu­neral home on Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 5, 2018 from 1-3 p.m.

In lieu of flow­ers, dona­tions in mem­ory of Lois may be made to a New Brunswick or Nova Sco­tia SPCA, DunRoamin’ Stray and Res­cue or to any an­i­mal res­cue of your choice. Lois would be com­forted to know that an­i­mals in need would be cared for.
