Hive of activity
It’s a busy time of year at Tantramar Regional High School.
It’s been a successful couple of weeks at Tantramar Regional High School (TRHS).
The 16th annual Christmas Craft Fair took place Nov. 17. We want to thank all the vendors who braved the cold storm the evening prior and dug their way to TRHS early Saturday morning to set up. The Student Council thanks everyone for making the event a great success. Mark your calendar for next year’s Craft Sale: Nov. 16, 2019.
Our semi-annual Casino Night was held Nov. 28. More than 150 students attended to play blackjack, roulette, poker, and other casino games. The event was catered by the TRHS Culinary classes and Ms. Melanie Ball and the spread was fantastic, as always. The SLAP team provided students with a live view of the “Poker Room,” lighting, and music for the event. The students won poker chips which allowed them to bid on items, auction style, at the end of the evening. There were some amazing prizes donated by local area businesses, including gift certificates from Touch of Class, Dollar Store, Patterson’s, Blind Forest Books, Leela Yoga, Snack Shop, Marshlands Inn, Joeys and Napule, along with various items from Jean Coutu, Knuckles & Truffles, Guardian Corner Store, Goya’s and Vogue Cinema.
It is one of the most favoured events of the year and we cannot thank our sponsors, and parent/ teacher volunteers enough! Alex Rhindress from TRHS Student Council deserves all the praise for taking the lead on organizing this amazing night. She did a wonderful job.
In athletics, the Titans swim team had their first swim meet of the year and it was a resounding success.
The boys’ hockey team were busy on the weekend with their Carl Ward Invitational Tournament.
The girls’ varsity team played Clement Cormier Dec. 4, while the boys take to the ice on Dec. 7 at 8:15 p.m.
Both Titans varsity basketball teams will be playing in the upcoming Tantramar Invitational Christmas Classic tournament on the weekend. We hope to see you out supporting your Titans.
