Weyburn’s Graham DeLaet was one stroke off the pace after Thursday’s opening round of the PGA’s Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Camilo Villegas was first after Round 1 with a sixunder64. DeLaet, Robert Streb and Rickie Fowler were next in line at 65 at PGA National.

“This is a golf course that you have to really hit good shots,” DeLaet, who missed only one green in regulation, told The Associated Press. “You can save yourself with a few putts here and there, but if you’re hitting it poorly, it’s going to eventually catch up to you.”

Defending champion Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods each opened with 70.
