Affordable urban luxuries
Selkirk gem under $600K
In creating their latest entry to the Parade of Homes, Selkirk Developments chose the theme of affordable luxury. The result is a home with many luxurious appointments coming in at less than $600,000.
From the curb, the home at 438 Hasting Cres. in Rosewood looks grand and stately. Stone work around the garage and a unique vertical window design are both modern and traditional. The main door to the house also speaks to the grandeur of the home with an elaborate stained-glass window with black and grey inserts.
Inside the two- storey, 1,911- square- foot home, more upgrades create a comfortable and highly functional layout, with popular touches modern homeowners are looking for. In the kitchen maple cabinets by Superior Cabinets in white and dark, quartz countertops and a one-of-akind metal backsplash create an urban kitchen that is up to date.
“As soon as the sample (of the backsplash) came in our supplier said, ‘We know exactly what you guys need for your show home,’ ” said Jeremy Cardinal-Schultz, project manager with Selkirk Developments.
“It fit with what we were trying to do. We were trying to jam pack in as many awesome features as we could.”
Nine-foot ceilings on the main level create a spacious feeling. In the great room a feature wall draws the eye with black wallpaper on top and white tile on the lower half. A contemporary gas fireplace gives the feature wall a stylish look and adds warmth to the space.
The flooring on the main level features ceramic tile in the main entrance, laundry room and half bath and maple hardwood for the remainder. In keeping with the luxurious features, Selkirk found an array of modern chandelier-like light fixtures for the entire house.
The three bedrooms upstairs boast plenty of space for a family and the master bedroom ensuite offer spa-like features. Buyers looking for a little touch of glamour will love the master bedroom ensuite with a custom-tiled walkin shower and tub surround.
“It makes you feel like a king,” Cardinal-Schultz said.
He adds the best feature of the house is an oversized bonus room over the garage. “You could keep downstairs for entertaining adults and throw the kids in the bonus room. It’s a huge room — ready for home theatre, desk and a play area.”
Selkirk Developments’ show home is part of the Parade of Homes. All Parade of Homes are open for viewing Monday through Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 2 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $100 each.
