The StarPhoeni­x editorial on Thursday postulates that our speech from the throne is full of action but lacks vision.

Last October, our government released The Saskatchew­an Plan for Growth — our vision for the province to the year 2020 and beyond. The plan envisions a province of 1.2 million people by 2020 and outlines specific activities to achieve that growth.

The plan also makes it clear that we do not seek growth for the sake of unchanging — a growing province with a vibrant, diversifie­d economy, where all Saskatchew­an people benefit from growth.

There’s an old saying that vision without a plan is just a dream. Saskatchew­an people are dreamers, but they are also doers. They are hardworkin­g and practical, and they want to know that their government has a plan to get things done. Brad Wall Premier growth. The purpose of growth is to build a better quality of life for all Saskatchew­an people, including new infrastruc­ture and developing a skilled workforce.

This is our vision. The throne speech spelled out specific steps our government will take to achieve it — more schools, better highways, improved health care, more accessible housing.

If the SP expects our government to come up with a new vision statement every year, it will be disappoint­ed. I think that most people are weary of government­s that are forever cranking out a never-ending series of vision statements without practical steps to achieve that vision. You will not see that from our government.
