Dixie Chicks return to Canada for tour

-

T he Dixie Chicks will hit Credit Union Centre Nov. 3 as part of the Long Time Gone tour. The tour marks the first full-length Canadian tour in seven years and a return to Saskatchewan hospitality after playing Craven Country Jamboree this summer and several other music festivals.

“We had such a great time playing for our Canadian fans this summer that we’ve been inspired to come back for more,” said band members Martie Maguire, Emily Robinson and Natalie Mains, in a press release.

The trio are bringing their sweet and sass north of the border, so to speak. That and a plethora of awards and career distinctions. The Dixie Chicks are the highest selling female group in any genre and are the only country group in history and the only female group of any genre to earn back-toback Diamond Awards signifying 10 million in record sales.

Not bad for a trio of chicks from Dallas, Texas. Their success isn’t limited to country music either. In fact, their music blends a variety of styles and genre from bluegrass to country rock and pop. Their most popular singles being Wide Open Spaces, Goodbye Earl, and There’s Your Trouble.

The group has also taken home their share of hardware, too, with 13 Grammy Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards and many more.

Recently, sisters Maguire and Robinson have developed their own side project called Court Yard Hounds, releasing their second album, Amelita, earlier this year. And lead singer, Natalie Maines, released her first solo rock disc, Mother, in May.

The Dixie Chicks take the stage at Credit Union Centre, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $29.50 to $89.50, plus fees.
