The Nutcracker boasts 40 star-studded dancers performing Olympic-worthy leaps in the 21st season of Moscow Ballet’s North American tour. “Knock-out” says the New York Times! This unforgetta­ble holiday performanc­e with magical toys, falling snow, growing Christmas trees, and astounding ballet moves is a favourite for families and has enjoyed much critical acclaim. The awardwinni­ng Moscow Ballet dancers are world-class and a delight.

The story of peace features amazing solo dances by ambassador­s from Hispanic, African, Russian, Asian, and European heritages. The 2013 production includes 200 all new, hand-embellishe­d costumes designed by Shakespear­ean expert Arthur Oliver and created in St Petersburg’s oldest theatrical costume shop.

Moscow Ballet’s Nutcracker is the unique telling of the classic story of Masha (Clara) and her Nutcracker Doll, told with true Russian flair. It is a two-act ballet with a musical score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsk­y. The whimsical fantasy of the Nutcracker is legendary, with the piece firmly enshrined as a Christmas staple for audiences across Canada.
