A Man a Fish: Written by Donna Michelle St. Bernard. World premiere. A tale of lust, money and environmen­tal sabotage. Prosper, a fisherman, is targeted by an unethical eel salesman and his fortunes take a turn for the worse. Meanwhile, the local bartender has his eyes set on Prosper’s wife. Chelsea Hotel: The Songs of Leonard Cohen: A Firehall Arts Centre Production. Conceived and directed by Tracey Power. Leonard Cohen’s powerful music and lyrics provide the heartbeat for this tale. An anonymous songwriter checks into New York’s infamous Chelsea Hotel in a desperate bid to find inspiratio­n. Opens Wednesday and runs to Nov. 17, nightly except Monday at 8 p.m., and Sundays and Nov. 6 at 2 p.m., at Persephone Theatre.

Alice Au Pays des Merveilles: Presented by La Troupe du Jour. A retelling of Lewis Carroll’s famous children’s story. Hiding out in her father’s library, Alice finds a strange rabbit nibbling furiously on the books. To stop him from devouring the whole collection, Alice chases him into his rabbit hole and finds herself in the fantasy world of Wonderland. Performed in French only.
