On Oct. 30 at Frances Morrison branch in The Gallery, Lambda award-winning author Glen Retief will read from The Jack Bank: A Memoir of a South African Childhood, and give a talk focused on how to maintain peace, love and spirituality in the midst of harrowing circumstances.

The launch of Turning Back the Pages, 100 Years of Saskatoon Public Library, is planned for 7 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 7 at Frances Morrison branch.
The launch of the library’s history book represents a milestone for the organization and its place in the community during the past 100 years. It is written by author, historian, librarian and former head of local history Ruth Millar.
The event will feature re-enacted scenes from the book directed by playwright, director and dramaturg Yvette Nolan; an address by Millar and refreshments.
