Baseball belt health hazards
VIERA, Fla. — Ross Detwiler is baffled over his belt. The Washington Nationals pitcher noticed a warning label stamped: “WARNING: This product may contain a chemical known in the state of California to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm.”
Detwiler still appeared concerned, but he nevertheless shrugged and put on the belt.
The label apparently stems from a 2011 warning from the Center for Environmental Health about high lead levels in baseball uniform belts.
